Description

With over 25 years of expertise in protein science and manufacturing, Bioneer is currently supporting the Danish/Nordic Biotech and Pharma ecosystem as a non-profit organization. Bioneer aims to enhance this ecosystem by providing a unique, comprehensive solution that spans the entire value chain—from gene/protein development to the production of the first clinical batch. Bioneer’s goal is to create a fast and flexible end-to-end offering for biologics development and cGMP manufacturing, combining advanced protein science, strategic resource optimization, and cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities, guiding projects from concept to clinical batch production.

To support Bioneer’s mission, Whining Dog Design has designed a well-proportioned, monolithic structure surrounded by trees and greenery. The building’s design resembles a pavilion more than a traditional production facility. While the exterior features limited openings, the interior is illuminated by an abundance of reflected light, enhanced by the color tones of the floor finishes. The understated architecture emphasizes the surrounding natural landscape, allowing it to take center stage.

The trees on the site include a mix of evergreen conifers such as Austrian fir, along with oak and beech. The greenery comprises various grasses, ferns, and shrubs.
As you approach the building, your attention will be drawn to a brightly backlit logo near the entrance. The entrance itself is designed as a welcoming plateau, featuring a bench and a waiting area where visitors can comfortably wait to be picked up.

The building spans three stories, with a vertical module of 4100 mm from floor to floor. Its modular design allows flexibility in all directions. The primary structure consists of a wooden truss system, from which technical floors and walkable ceilings above the cleanrooms are suspended. This design not only accommodates changes to production layouts but also enables the building to adapt to entirely different functions in the future.
